Mangaluru: As a part of Life Skill Programme, Grade IX Students of Bertrand Russell English Medium High school visited Link De-Addiction centre recently.
As an awareness programme, students of Grade IX had a session with Melvin Fernandes, the counsellor. The session was focussed on the substance abuse, different types of substance and effects of substances. Students were provided with great deal of information in order to inculcate awareness among themselves. At the end of this session, the students had good time interacting with the inmates.
As a part of Life Skill Programme, a captivating talk was organized at the school premises recently on the entitled topic pubertal changes and how to maintain personal hygiene. The orators were Praksha, the counsellor and Yogish, an employee of child helpline.
The programme was well presented for students of Grade V, VI, VII, and VIII. The sessions were managed separately for boys and girls. Striking features of the session were the physical, emotional, psychological changes occurring in the students were explained. And how they have to accept themselves during that time, how to maintain personal hygiene was also explained to girls. Thus, the talk enriched the knowledge of students through the interaction with resource persons.
