Lightning strike claims life of cow

Udupi: In an unfortunate incident, a cow and a calf have lost their lives in lightning strike at Padu village in Kaup. Another cow has sustained serious injuries in the mishap.

The cows belonged to Light House Road resident Shamsuddin. The cows were in the cattle shed behind the house when lightning struck. Shamsuddin is a dairy farmer and had recently bought the two jersey cows after availing bank loans.

Due to heavy rains, there has been thunders and lightning in twin districts of Udupi and Dakshin Kannada. A Gram Panchayat member lost her life in Karkala two days back, due to lightning.
