Lineman of MESCOM dies due to lightning struck

Puttur: A lineman attached to Kadaba unit of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) died after lightning struck him late night on Tuesday May 3. He was working to repair a transformer when his end came.

The deceased is Vishwanath Naykodi (22), son of Annappa, native of Kundagooli in Vijayapura district. Vishwanath was engaged in the repair of a transformer that had turned faulty after getting damaged due to rain coupled with thunder and lightning which pounded the region on Tuesday evening.

Vishwanath, who had been recently appointed to the post, had joined for duties about five months ago. A case was filed in this connection at Kadaba police station.
