Udupi: Lions Club district 317C tried to showcase in Kaup Uliyaragoli how our elders were celebrating Deepavali. Noticing that these days, festivals are confined to display of status, Lions Club celebrated Deepavali in traditional manner.

New traditional attire, illuminated lighting, twinkling lantern lights, attractive world of Goodu Deepas, rejoicing atmosphere for the guests arriving from distant places, crackers, decorated cow waiting for Pooje, Tulsi pot and priests waiting for festival prayers, was the scene of Deepavali celebrations held by Lions club at Kaup Uliayaragoli.

Janapada scholar Kamalaksha Bhat and Srinivasa Bhat under the guidance of Bannanje Babu Ameen conducted religious rituals. Tulasi Pooje, Laxmi Pooje and Gopooje were held on the occasion.

Special achiever Belapu Deviprasad Shetty was honored under the leadership of special guest Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake. Couples in traditional attire were handed over prizes. Goodu Deepa competition, crackers and Rasamanjari programme gave additional cheer to the celebrations. Delicious festival meal was served in the end.
