Mangaluru: "Every Indian should tread the path of universal brotherhood, affection and patience preached by our ancestors. These attributes, if acquired, go a long way in purifying the society which has got polluted over time. At this juncture, the country is on fast track of progress, and it is our bounden duty to preserve the sanctity of our country. When we succeed in finding brotherly connections with every other citizen, we get freedom in its true sense. Institutions engaged in imparting education should educate the students about brotherhood, duty consciousness and patriotism," said Flt Lt Venkatesh Nayak, senior manager of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, who participated as the chief guest at the 70th Independence Day celebrations celebrated at the ground of Lourdes Central School here on Monday August 15.

Convener of the school, Fr Wilson Vitus D'Souza, presided. Principal, Fr Robert D'Souza, honoured the guest by handing over a memento.

Vice principal, Bilita Mascarenhas, vice president of teachers-parents association, Arati Shetty and Fr Stany Pinto of Bejai Church, were present.
