Lourdes Central School five day faculty enrichment programme ends

Mangaluru: An enrichment programme for the teaching faculty was organized at Lourdes Central School (LCS) from May 25 to May 30.

On the first day, LCS principal, Fr Robert D’Souza welcomed the teachers and introduced eight new staff members. In his address he focused on the objectives of education and imparting knowledge through values, effective planning and passion for teaching.

On the second day a session was delivered by Sabrina Britto on the topic Neuro-Linguistic Programme. She focused on the primary representation system which is visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. The session enriched the teachers in understanding certain behavioural problems and how to deal with them.

The next day an informative session on classroom management was addressed by Lolita Mascarenhas and Francisca Mendes, staff of LCS. They explained the tools for adopting a conducive learning environment in school and the guidelines for classroom management. The next session was delivered by Sr Lidwin Sequeira a retired principal who shared her rich experience and techniques on classroom management and discipline. She explained how to deal with the different types of behavioural problems in children.

On day four, ‘How to be an effective teacher using soft skills’ was delivered by Ida Patro an education consultant. She focused on how the improvisation aspect of soft skills in teachers gives students opportunities to develop their communication skills.

On the last day, the programme concluded with the session ‘How to be a good communicator’ by the renowned ELT consultant and teacher trainer Regina Dinesh and her associate Kumble Narasimha Prabhu. They focused on the aims and objectives of communicative skills through a variety of specially devised exercises to demonstrate such skills. The session helped the teachers utilise rapport to enrich all kinds of communication and relationships.
