Mangaluru: ‘Nudidante Nade’, a novel ongoing programme of APD Foundation and Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is all set to conclude successfully this month. ‘Nudidante Nade’ is meant exclusively for government buildings functioning in Mangaluru city limits. The programme includes a set of training sessions, workshops and campaigns focused on waste segregation at source (at generator level).

Nudidante Nade is inspired from the popular idiom ‘Practice What You Preach’ and is mainly meant for staff and officials of government buildings. The programme was launched on July 13 at MCC Office by mayor Bhasker K. Speaking on the occasion, the mayor appreciated the idea and effort behind the project. Deputy mayor Mohammed Kunjathabail and MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer were present on the occasion.

“It is important that government offices and public buildings set a good example for the citizens by adopting waste segregation within the building premises. If this drive on government and public buildings is successful, it will inspire the people and set the government organization as a role model for the citizens,” said Mohammed Nazeer, commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation.

Jayaprakash Nayak, scientific officer of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and an expert on the subject consented to be the chief resource person for the training sessions.

Of the 15 government offices in Mangaluru city limits enlisted to be reached under this programme, 13 offices have already been covered and the last two offices will be reached by August end. “This programme is a major step forward in terms of sanitation, cleanliness and environmental conservation,” says Abdullah A Rehman, founder of APD Foundation.

The programme supplements Anti Pollution Drive (APD) Foundation’s on-going city wide IEC campaign along with Antony Waste Handling Cell Pvt Ltd. (AWHCPL). APD Foundation has also joined hands with the MBA students of Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) under their social learning programme to execute and implement the programme.
