Manipal: It was celebration time for Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal University on Thursday. Having received the ‘Best Pharmacy College in the country’ tag from the Union Human Resource Development Ministry in the first-ever National institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MCOPS celebrated the accomplishment at a brief, but impressive function on the College campus.
Dr Ramdas M Pai, Chancellor, Manipal University, Dr H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor, Dr H Vinod Bhat Vice Chancellor and Dr Narayana Sabhahit the Registrar were present on the occasion to share the joy and motivate the college to do better and raise its profile higher. An ecstatic Dr Pai handed over the NIRF rank certificate to the Principal of MCOPS, Dr Mallikarjuna Rao.
Dr Rao, welcomed the gathering and described how the college rose to the present pre-eminent stature from its humble beginning a little over fifty years ago. He attributed the enviable position of being ranked number one in the country to the constant support from the College management and the untiring efforts of his predecessors right from the fledgling years. He made particular mention of Dr P Gundu Rao and Dr Sankarasubramanian. Dr Mallikarjuna Rao also complimented his immediate predecessor Dr N Udupa for his invaluable contribution during the period of the college’s spectacular growth and visibility.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr H S Ballal said that he had always believed the potential of MCOPS as a first-rate institution. He complimented the principal and faculty for making MCOPS the topmost college in the country among the one thousand pharmacy colleges.
Vice Chancellor Dr H Vinod Bhat said that the first rank at the national level should spur the college to strive for rating among the best colleges abroad. He felt that getting global ranking would make it simpler to maintain the top national rank in the coming years.
At the conclusion of the function, Vice Principal Dr M Sreenivasa Reddy proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Angel Alex (Assistant Professor, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, MCOPS) was the MC for the programme. Bhavana Bhat rendered the invocation.
