MESCOM officer ends life by jumping off bridge

Mangaluru: A MESCOM officer has ended his life by jumping off the bridge into Netravathi river near Jeppinamogaru. The deceased has been identified as K Rehman (58) from Attavar. He was working as Section Officer at Shirva office of MESCOM.

Rehman who was recently transferred to Shirva used to visit his home at Attavar during weekends. He came all the way to Jeppinamogaru and jumped off the Netravathi bridge at around 3.30 pm. Some motorists who spotted him jumping immediately informed the Police Control Room. The police who rushed to the spot found him dead close by.

Rehman’s daughter who has completed her engineering is scheduled to marry in April, while his son is pursuing engineering at a city college. The reason behind the suicide is not known.
