Kundapur: Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty has received a threat and extortion call from Australia from a person who claimed to be underworld don Ravi Poojary. The caller contacted the MLA on his mobile phone and demanded money.The caller also threatened to take his life, if the amount is not paid.
A complaint in this regard was filed by Halady Srinivas Shetty in Shankaranarayana police station. The caller spoke to Shetty in Tulu and asked for money.
MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty replied, "I have not done anything illegal and even during elections I did not take money from anyone. I do not have money."
However, the caller refused to believe Halady and threatened to kill him if he did not pay him the money as demanded, states the complaint.
A case has been filed.
