Man arrested for raping his niece

Karkala: Police arrested a man for raping his elder sister’s daughter at Belman Indaru on Tuesday April 5. The accused is Nagaraja alias Nagesh (30)

The twelve-year-old girl whose parents are no more was staying with her grandmother Ellamma. Ellamma’s sons Ganesh, Nagesh and the granddaughter, a sixth standard student were staying together

The family hails from Tamil Nadu. They were employed in the local stone quarry. Nagesh alias Nagaraja is said to have sexually assaulted the girl for sometimes and threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to others. For this reason the girl had not told about the physical abuse which she was enduring to others.

When the girl went to Belman Primary Health centre for medical check-up, the doctors were shocked to find the statues of her physical abuse. They immediately sent the girl to Udupi children’s and maternity hospital and informed rural police station.
