Mangaluru City South MLA says no fear of Nipah virus

Mangaluru: D Vedavyasa Kamath, MLA, Mangaluru City South, said that no Nipah virus infection cases have been reported in the city and elsewhere in Dakshina Kannada and people need not panic. He said that the situation is closely monotired.

He said that he has discussed with DK DC Sasikanth Senthil S. and District Surgeon Rajeshwari Devi on the issues involved. A vigil has been kept on the health condition of patients admitted to the Government Wenlock Hospital from outside Dakshina Kannada. A special unit has been opened in the hospital to monitor Nipah cases.

"People need not be in fear reading messages being spread on the social media. The Union Health Ministry through State Health Department is ready to manage any situation," he added.t
