Matsya Rodana to be held on Panambur beach on June 5

Mangaluru: Sahyadri Sanchaya, a registered group of green activists spearheading a campaign against Yettinahole project, will conduct a programme ’Matsya Rodhana’ on Panambur beach at 5 pm on June 5 on the account of World Environment Day.

The programme aims at discussing the ill-effects of Yettinahole project on fisheries. The CD of telefilm ’Aluttiruvalu Nethravathi’ (Nethravathi weeps) will be released on the occasion. Former deputy mayor Purushottam Chitrapur will release the CD. The telefilm will also be screened on the occasion. Artists will present installation arts on the theme.

Dr Prathibha Rohit of Central Institute of Fisheries Research, Fisheries College Professor Dr Shivakumar Magada and Fishermen community leader Ramachandar Baikampadi will speak on the occasion.
