Mangaluru: The day and night Mat Kabaddi tournament organized by former national level Kabaddi player Robert Francis D'Souza for
men and women was held at Bajpe on May 21.
The tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Bajpe parish priest Fr Felix Noronha, Sunkada Katte temple priest Narayana, Bajpe Panchayat president Rosy Mathais, Kandavara panchayat president Vijay Suvarna, Bajpe mosque Khazi Razak and others. The tournament started at 6 pm and continued till 1 am. Prizes were distributed by Robert Francis D'Souza soon after the tournament.
The winners were as follows:
Men's team:
First prize: Shakthi Kenjar
Prize consisted of Rs 10,000 and trophy for the team, trophies and medals to each player
Second prize: Tathawamshi B
Rs 7,500 and trophy for the team, certificates and medals to each player
Third prize: Tathawamshi A
Rs 5,000 and trophy for the team, certificates and medals to each player
Fourth prize: Rs 5,000 cash and trophy for the team, certificates and medals to each player
Best rider: Bharathi - Kenjar team
Best catcher: Abhi – Gopalakrishna team
Best all rounder: Anand, Tatawamshi team
Special prizes: Movement of the tournament – Vijith, Tatawamshi team
