Milagres Cathedral celebrates Annual Feast with devotion and gaiety

Udupi: Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur celebrated annual feast with devotion and fervor on Wednesday, 18th January, 2017.

On the occasion of annual parish feast “Wodle Fest”, each head of families, donours and benefactors’ were honoured with special candle by the rector of the Cathedral. Followed by the priests along with brass band, Ozwald Cornelio & family who were the donors for the cost of brass band for three days, priests came in procession from Vicar’s house and entered the church through the main door of the cathedral.

 

 

Rev Fr. Lawrence C. D’ Souza, Secretary of Catholic Education Society of Udupi diocese was the chief celebrant of the Solemn mass with 23 priests from deanery, neighboring priests, parishioner priests and former priests of church.

Introducing the theme of the annual feast “ Devachem Uthar Mariyesanghi Niyalyam”, during his homily said that God’s word is so powerful that God comes to us and speaks with us. His Words never comes to an end. He called to make a habit to read the Words of God in Bible. So that it will be possible to build the bridge between God. Through Mother Mary, the Word of God witnesses in faith of God. The Word of God is the mightiest of weapons. The Word of God would save families ,provided they make it the center of their lives.

The choir trained by Rev Fr. Roshan Capuchin enhanced the solemnity of the annual feast mass by singing melodious hymns supported by key board player Manisha D’Souza.

Five Close Circuit TV’s were installed inside and outside the cathedral for the benefit of the faithful to increase devotion. Ozwald Cornelio families were honoured for the sponsors of the celebrations by special decorated candles at the end of the solemn mass by the chief celebrant of the mass Rev Fr. Lawrence D’Souza.

Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo at the end of the mass conveyed greetings of the annual parish feast to all parishioners’ and expressed gratitude to Fr. Lawrence D’Souza for concelebrating the annual parish feast as the chief celebrant and delivering beautiful meaningful homily. He also gave gratitude to all concerned including parish pastoral council members, heads of educational institutions, superiors of convents, teachers and parish associations and so on.

On behalf of priests, Fr. Lawrence gave gratitude to the parish rector, priests and faithful on the occasion and conveyed his wishes.

Parish youth were busy with their stall and Fr. Stany B. Lobo picked the lucky number ticket for “Big fighter Cock” (Combo) which was held for Altar Boys. Large number of devotees of Milagres Amma offered lit candles for Our Lady of Miracles. Since three centuries most of the other religious faithful of Milagres offer candles every year atleast once in a year during annual feast.
