Milagres College & Milagres PU College Golden Jubilee year 2016/17 inaugurated

Udupi: The Golden Jubilee Year 2016/17 of the Milagres College and Milagres Pre University College was inaugurated at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur by Sri Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Affair, District in charge Minister, Government of Karnataka.

After the inauguration, Pramod Madhwaraj said that it will be great that 83 years old priest was the founder of Milagres College with his vision and intention fifty years back. The students of Milagres College are ambassadors. We are of D.K. and Udupi district far ahead in educational and health development in the country that we are proud of that. In Karnataka state, three districts including Udupi and D.K. are above developed. The reason would be the contributions of more than 270 educational institutions are providing topmost services in the field of education as well as health. He knew about the Milagres College since his childhood and he has been the love and affection of Milagres Institutions. He would be happy to know that instead of constructing the buildings on account of jubilee celebration, the college started reservation fund for the poor students would be good initiative.

Prior to the inauguration, Pramod Madhwaraj was felicitated by the Bishop and others on the dais with a shawl, huge garland and basket of fresh fruits.

The programme began with a welcome dance by college students. Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi and President of Catholic Education Society Udupi presided the inaugural programme. Rev Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Secretary of CESU, Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, Correspondent and Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Mrs. Janaki Brahmavar, President of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy as well as student of first batch, Dr. Gerald Pinto, Principal of First Grade degree college, Rev Dr. Prakash Anil Castalino Lecturer and Campus Director and Mrs. Savitha Kumari Principal of PU College were present on the dais.

Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo welcomed the guests and the gatherings. Dr. Gerald Pinto, Principal of the Milagres College gave introductory address and pointed out some of the projects on the occasion of Jubilee celebration during the year. Pramod Madhwaraj released the cheque for Milagres Golden Jubilee Educational Fund for the students to Prof. Cyril Mathias HOD of English and Convener of the Educational Fund. During the occasion honored the Teachers as well as students of first batch of 1967.

The guest of honor Mrs. Janaki during her address shared views on Milagres College during her time of study in the college. It is due to Milagres College now her position in every field on top. She praised Milagres College for her wonderful life.

Fr. Lawrence D’Souza also addressed the gathering with his style of experience of administration. Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo gave his presidential address. He pointed out regarding memory, dialogue, relation, human resource development and financial outcome.

Mrs. Savitha Kumar, Principal of Milagres PU College proposed vote of thanks. Prof. Vincent Alva compered the programme. The programme concluded with singing of National Anthem. Former Principals Very Rev Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas, Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Dr. Nery Cornelio, Prof. Sadashiva Alse and retired teachers and non teaching retired staff were present.
