Mother tortures her daughter; rescued by Child Helpline officials

Beltangady: A lady tortured her daughter on Friday October 21 at Renkedaguthu near Belthangady. This left the young girl badly bruised and injured. After locals came to know about the incident, they called up Child Helpline and Helpline officials along with district child protection unit rescued the girl.

Sunanda was the one who inhumanly attacked her daughter. It is learnt that Sunanda has been in the habit of wildly attacking her daughter often and injuring her badly.

The girl is said to have pleaded with officials to take her away as she was not willing to stay with her mother anymore. She revealed that she was under attacks frequently.

The girl had injuries in her head, face, hands, and legs. She was taken to women's treatment section at Lady Goschen Hospital Mangaluru where she was counselled. She was provided with treatment at Wenlock Hospital before being produced before the Children's Welfare Committee. She has been accommodated in a hostel.
