Mangaluru: Students of NMAMIT have developed an android app to ease the process of campus placements of the college.

The app was released by the principal of NMAM Institute of Technology Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar on January 10 and the app is now available on Google playstore for the use of final year students of NMAMIT. The principal appreciated the work done by the students and the professional approach in developing software and making it useful.

The app was developed by a team of four CSE students, namely, Kashif Minhaj, Mohandas Pai, Muthahir Mohammed and Tahaseen, under the guidance of Prof Venugopala P S of CSE department with technical support from Rajeevan and Praveen Shetty.

The placement process involves around 1000 students and more than 50 companies. This application enables the students to register for the companies who visit the institute for campus placements and also disseminate news and updates about the placements to the registered students.

To date, the institute has been using an in-house developed placement portal for handling the students' registration to placement, updating their profile, informing the company details to students and also to spread instant notifications sent by placement department. Now all these can be done using an android app.

Vice-principal Dr I Ramesh Mithanthaya, registrar Prof Yogeesh Hegde, director Industry Institute Collaboration Dr A N Parameswaran, HOD, department of Counselling, Student Welfare, Training & Placements Prof Shalini K Sharma, placement executive Bharath G Kumar and HODs of all the departments were present during the programme.
