National Seminar on ‘E-Resources, Intellectual Property Rights and Plagiarism-Issues and Challenges’ held at St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur: Internal Quality Assurance Cell of St Philomena College Puttur organized One Day National Level Seminar on ‘E-Resources, Intellectual Property Rights and Plagiarism-Issues and Challenges’ on September 29, 2018 in College auditorium.

The Former Vice Chancellor of Kuvempu University, Shimoga Dr Chidananda Gowda K inaugurated the seminar and delivered the keynote address. He said, ‘Intellectual Property is an intangible asset. It is the product of human creativeness and it is also protected by the law.’

The Campus Director of College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honour and expressed his best wishes. The Correspondent Very Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto presided over the programme.

The Seminar consisted of three technical sessions. In the first session, Dr Anand Byrappa, Head, JRD Tata Memorial Library, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore spoke on the topic ‘Application of Intellectual Property Rights in this Electronic Age’. In the second session, Dr Prakash K, Librarian, KSOU, Mysore delivered on ‘E-Resources, Copyright and Authorship’. In the third session, Dr Sunil M V, Librarian, SDMIMD, Mysore participated as the resource person on ‘Plagiarism and Copyright Infringement’.

The Researchers, Professors, Librarians, Physical Education Directors and Academicians from various regions of the country participated as delegates.

The Faculty of BBA Mr Prashanth Rai presented the prayer song. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha delivered welcome address. The Coordinator of IQAC Dr A P Radhakrishna proposed the vote of thanks. The Dean of Arts Faculty Prof. Ganapathy S compered the programme.

The valedictory session of the Seminar was held in the evening. The Librarian of SDMIMD, Mysore Dr Sunil M V delivered the valedictory address. The Campus Director Rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro presented his observations. The Librarian of KSOU, Mysore Dr Prakash K graced the occasion. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha presided over the programme. The IQAC Coordinator Dr A P Radhakrishna welcomed the gathering. The Seminar Coordinator Mr Vinayachandra proposed the vote of thanks. The HoD of English Mrs Bharathi S Rai compered the programme.
