National Youth Day, Ramakrishna Math to mark on January 12

Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru is organising National Youth Day programme on the occasion of 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12. Home Minister G Parameshwara will inaugurate the programme. Swami Jitakamanandaji will deliver the keynote address. J R Lobo, Mangaluru City South MLA, and Manjunath Bhandary, chairman, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, will be the guests.

The inaugural sessions will be followed by sessions on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Tyagishwaranandaji, Ramakrishna Math, Halsur will speak on Nanna Baravaseiruvudu Yuva Janatheyalli - Swami Vivekananda. Srikrishna Upadhya will be speaking on the topic Yuvakaru Haagu Rashtra Nirmana. Raghothama Rao of Bengaluru will be interacting with the youths on the topic power of positive thinking.

Ramakrishna Mission will distribute branded clothes sponsored under CSR among the needy and distressed in remote villages near Puttur and Sullia. About 30 villages have been identified and the ashram will distribute clothes to 100 villagers from each village under the guidance of monks. G Parameshwara will flag off this project titled ’Arpana’ and will go on for 15 days starting from 12th January.

On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary celebration of Sister Nivedita, Ramakrishna Mission is also organizing Shakti - women empowerment programme exclusively for girls and women. This is based on the theme contemporary women - issues and challenges. Tejaswini Ananthkumar, managing trustee, Adamya Chetana, Bengaluru will be inaugurating the programme. Swami Jitakamanandaji, president, Ramakrishna Math will deliver the key note address.

This will be followed by addresses by Tejaswini Ananthkumar, Shobha Karandlaje, MP, Vijayalakshmi Shibaruru of Suvarna News, Lekshmi Kumaran, general manager, MRPL (HR) on issues pertaining to contemporary women - issues and challenges. Smitha Shenoy, lecturer, department of journalism, Besant Women’s College will be the moderator. Raghothama Rao will interact with the audience on the topic enlightened women.
