New Building of the Goretti Convent inaugurated at Santhekatte, Kallianpur by Superior General of SRA

Udupi: Newly built Goretti Convent of SRA inaugurated by Very Rev Sr. Nanditha Pereira of Austria, Superior General of SRA community at Santhekatte, Kallianpur, here on Friday, 30th October, 2014. His Lordship Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo blessed the Goretti Convent as well as Chapel of the convent.

 

Very Rev. Sr. Nanditha Periera inaugurated the convent building main door with cutting the ribbon while Sr. Zeena D’Souza & Sr. Laura Rodrigues Superior of Goretti Convent accompanied her.

Bishop concelebrated the Eucharistic celebrations at the newly erected Chapel along with Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Dean of Kallianpur Deanery, Rev Fr. Philip Nerry Aranha Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church, Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Chancellor of Udupi Diocese and Parish Priest of Barkur Church, Rev Fr. John Mendonca Judicial Vicar of Udupi Diocese, Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa PRO of the Diocese and Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar Church and other priests at large.

The newly erected Chapel was blessed accordingly, first the Cross, secondly the chapel, thirdly Eucharistic celebrations table of Sacristy and last Tabernacle of the chapel during the Holy Eucharistic celebrations. Bishop blessed the whole convent building. Rev Fr. Chetan Lobo Capuchin compered the liturgical service accordingly. During the first homily in the chapel, Bishop highlighted the importance of the church as per the Holy Bible and role of the church during the Eucharist celebrations.

After the Holy Eucharistic Mass in the Chapel, stage programme was held which started with a prayer dance. During the stage programme, Rev Sr. Nanditha Pereira Superior General presided the occasion. His Lordship Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop, Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, Rev Fr. Philip Nery Aranha, Very Rev Sr. Cynthia Reys General Councilor of SRA, Mr. Pramod Madwaraj local MLA, Mr. Sathish Naik President of Moodu Tonse Grama Panchayat, Mr. Jerry Vincent Dais Vice President of Mount Rosary Parish Pastoral Council, Sr. Zeena D’Souza Provincial, Sr. Joyce Administrator of Goretti Hospital, Sr. Laura Rodrigues Superior of Goretti Convent and Dr. R. N. Bhat Medical Superintendent of Goretti Hospital were present on the dais.

Sr. Zeena D’Souza welcomed the gathering . Bishop in his message said that dream of having the SRA convent here has been fulfilled. He has close relation with SRA sisters since when he was in Vamanjoor. SRA community providing missionary services for the church, services for the poor and needy through health facilities and other missionary job. He thanked SRA sisters for providing help to build home for retired priests of the diocese. He look forward to upgrade Goretti Hospital in order to get better health facilities for the community.
