Puttur: A husband-wife duo died on the same day. Taniya Naik (75) and his wife, Laxmi Naik (70) from Nekkaraje near Kodimbady were the two who lost their lives within a gap of a few hours.

Tania was bedridden since about a month. His wife, Laxmi, accidentally collapsed on Thursday morning and breathed her last. As soon as the relatives and neighbours performed her funeral and returned home, Taniya too passed away.

The family members picked up Taniya, who was bedridden, for giving him a bath. He however, breathed his last in the hands of his son, Dharnappa Naik, who had lifted him from bed.
