On Christ the King festival, the Annual Udupi Diocesan grand Eucharistic Procession was held with devotion

Udupi : On the feast of Christ the King, Udupi Diocesan Annual Eucharistic procession with Eucharistic mass was held at Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi on Sunday, 22nd November, 2015.

The solemn high Eucharistic mass was concelebrated by Bishop of Udupi Diocese His Lordship Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo along with diocesan priests at Mother of Sorrows Church campus. The day was observed with Eucharistic mass, Adoration and Eucharistic procession followed by homily.

After the mass, Very Rev Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas, parish priest placed announcements of the week and programme on the occasion of annual parish feast which will be celebrated on 24th and 25th November. After the mass, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo honoured those individuals and parishes who had given donation on the occasion of Eucharistic celebrations and procession with decorated candles.

The mass was followed by adoration of the Holy Eucharist which was led by Rev Fr. Lawrence C. D’Souza, Secretary of CESU.

After the Adoration, the solemn Eucharistic procession began which was led by Cross hold by Vice President of Udupi Parish Pastoral council Vice President Boniface D’Souza, devotees, alter servers, priests and Holy Eucharist carried by Bishop on a decorated beautiful vehicle. The procession passed via Government PU College Road, Ajjarkad Park Road, Jodukatte, Old Taluk Office Road, Court Road, Diana Circle and culminated at Church premises. Thousands of devotees along with large number of priests, nuns participated during the huge grand procession.

Followed by the procession, Rev Dr. Prakash Anil Castalino, Campus Director of St. Mary’s Shirva gave beautiful homily on Holy Eucharist. He highlighted the importance as well as the power of Eucharist. The Eucharist is the fundamental root of Faith. We faithful should refill, recharge and renew the faith on God. The Eucharist has great power in our broken hearts and the people.

During the end of the Adoration, prior to Eucharistic blessings, Bishop dedicated the Udupi Diocese to Christ the King through the prayers of dedication.

Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa, PRO of Udupi Diocese compered the entire programme of the day. He announced the names of parishes which collected the highest amount for the Diocese on Mission Sunday and Bishop gave away the trophies to those who had highest total collection and highest per head collection on Mission Sunday. St. Lawrence Church Moodubelle received the first trophy for the maximum collection of Rs. 5,28,410/- while Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi placed second with 5,20,635/- and St. Lawrence Shrine, Attur, Karkala placed third with collection of Rs. 3,25,000/-. Meanwhile the parishes that had maximum per head collection of Nakre Church Rs. 417/- with the collection of Rs. 2,16,000/- the first place, Kuntalnagar Rs. 341/- per head with total collection of Rs. 1,30,000/- and Udupi Church placed third place per head collection of Rs. 320/- with the collection of Rs. 5,20,635/-.

Before the conclusion of the celebration, Bishop gave heartfelt gratitude on the occasion of Annual Eucharistic celebration with adoration and procession to all concerned. He thankful the Lord for the absence of rain during the entire devotional service, since for the past two days there was rain.
