Paldane church to be named St Theresa church

Mangaluru: Blessed Mother Theresa Church in Paldane near here will henceforth be named as Calcutta's St Theresa Church.

The Catholic Pope in the Vatican will canonize Blessed Mother Theresa as the saint on September 4. Fr G W Vas had inaugurated the church ten years ago separating 240 families from Kulshekar church. The number of families in the parish has gone up to 350 in the last ten years.

The Paldane church was the first to be devoted to Mother Theresa in south India. A programme will be held on September 5 to share the joy of canonizing the blessed Mother Theresa as a saint. A holy mass will be offered under the leadership of Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of the diocese of Mangaluru said the present parish priest of the parish, Fr Vincent V Menezes.
