Udupi: Pejawar Swami spoke to reporters regarding meat consumption issue, which has become talk of town after Pramod Madhwaraj gave statement regarding it. He said that there is no clear evidence to show whether Lord Rama, Lord Krishna or Valmiki, the author of the epic Ramayana, consumed meat. Valmiki might have consumed meat when he was a hunter.

"I am not opposed to Brahmins, Dalits or other members of the community consuming meat. But no one should consume beef, whether they are Brahmins or non-Brahmins,” he opined.

He also said that he has no problem with Hindu community members eating meat.
