‘Philo Ninaada-2017’ inaugurated at St Philomena College

Puttur: Mangalore University level intercollegiate Music Competitions ‘Philo Ninaada 2017’ inaugurated at St Philomena College Puttur on August 22, 2017 in college auditorium.

The Registrar of Mangalore University Prof. K M Lokesh inaugurated ‘Philo Ninaada 2017’ and said, ‘India has a great tradition of music. Music is a supreme art. Every competitor has to treat this competition as a celebration of our ancient cultural tradition.’

The Chartered Accountant CA. M Jagannath Kamath Mangalore participated as the chief guest. ‘A’ Top Graded Ghatam Artist, AIR Mangalore Vidwan Trchi K R Kumar was the guest of honour. The Campus Director and the Chairman of Centre for PG Studies and Research Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro graced the occasion. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha presided over the programme.

‘Philo Ninaada 2017’ consists of eight events, namely, Classical Vocal Solo, Classical instrument Solo-Percussion, Classical Instrument Solo-Non-Percussion, Light Vocal-Indian, Western Vocal, Group Song-Indian, Group Song-Western and Folk Orchestra. The students from 17 colleges of Mangalore University have participated in various events held in the first day.

The members of Performing Arts Association presented the prayer. The convener Mr. Prashanth Rai welcomed the gathering. The Assistant Professor in Computer Science Mrs. Rajeshwari M proposed the vote of thanks. The HoD of English Mrs. Bharathi S Rai compered the programme.
