Post Office Saving Bank A/c ATM inaugurated at the Udupi Head Post Office

Udupi: For the first time in Udupi district, the post office savings Bank ATM was inaugurated at the Head Post Office compound by Pramod Madhwaraj local MLA and Secretary for Revenue Department on Saturday, 19th March, 2016. George Samuel, Secretary of Pensioners Association was the first to transact from his pension account using ATM Card.

In his inaugural address Pramod Madhwaraj said that the postal department is the only department without corruption and public have trust for the post. The government departments exist to help for the citizens. Even now also postal workers are directly for on door to door service which nowhere in the world one can see. He said he learned the habit of savings through postal services. Postal workers are providing services which will be appreciated by all. He regretted that even now also some of the lower postal workers not getting sufficient salaries and wages.

Udupi divisional Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Rajashekar Bhat gave the performances of Postal Core Banking facilities. The picture of postal services has been changing fast. The department of post would be taking advantage of the development of information and technology. Out of 1,55,000 post offices in the country around 1,25,000 post offices in village areas and only around 3,000 post offices remains in the city limit. Around 25,000 post offices are facilities online services. He said that 62 post offices of Udupi division have migrated to the core banking facility. All the post offices will be computerized before 31stMarch. The interlock with other nationalized banks will be available prior to six months, so that those who can use a Postal ATM to other banks also.

He said that In Udupi division 5, 34,764 have saving bank accounts and have Rs. 903 crores deposits. The Udupi division has been allotted 3 ATMs on a trial basis. There will be additional ATM locations have been scheduled for operation shortly.

Post Master Suryanarayan welcomed the gatherings. Jayaram Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Purnima Janardhan Kodavoor compered the programme beautifully.
