Pramod Madwaraj misleading people of Udupi Constituency in developmental works: Raghupathy Bhat

Udupi: Raghupathy Bhat former MLA of Udupi constituency charged present MLA Pramod Madwaraj to make baseless statement related to 10 percent commission to people’s representatives on the allocated funds for the developmental schemes.

Raghupathy Bhat while speaking to media persons said that MLA should make the names of the MLAs who have received ten percent commission clear and should list out the programmes he has initiated. He also said that MLA’s statement has damaged the institution of the administration. He said he didn’t receive any commission when he was MLA. How he know about the commission, he asked. We need answer from Pramod Madwaraj about the ten percent commission.

He said that Pramod Madwaraj Udupi MLA should release the list of works implemented by him in the Udupi Consitutency during his two and half years as MLA. Madawaraj has given statement that developmental works worth Rs.1320 crores had been implemented during his tenure. Bhat asking where is the development works which is not visible. He should release a list mentioning all the developmental works implemented. He clarifies that this Rs.1320 crore list should not include those works for which tenders were floated when the BJP rule in the state and Union government sponsored schemes. He charged that the present government is just carrying forward the programme initiated by the BJP government.

He said that the supply of tanker water is politically motivated. The drinking water problem is rampant and the MLA is not taking any measures to supply the water, he alleged.

Raghupathy Bhat argues that Udupi Legislative Assembly constituency people get injustice that no developmental work been done. MLA has failed to protect the interests of the people. Brahmavar has been made a Town Municipal Council instead Kaup which was less qualified than Brahmavar. Kaup has less populated with lesser area compared to Brahmavar. The Post Graduate Centre of Mangalore University should have been located at Kolalgiri near Uppoor, instead it had been shifted to Belapu coming under District in charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake’s Kaup Assembly Constituency. We are not against the development of Kaup Constituency. But Madwaraj keeping silence in developmental works of Udupi Constituency, he argued.

Pramod Madwaraj after the election was busy with the distribution of BPL cards. But nearly 55,000 BPL cards have been annulled.

There is no development works undertaken by MLA. The corruption issues, there is no control in it. We had three rounds of election canvass done for the party. We have non-stop touch with the voters. People are disappointed with the present government in the state due to various failures of the government rule.

He said Jayaprakash Hegde former MP who was expelled from the Congress party trying to look for the defeat of congress in the present elections. Most of the congress active workers as well as office bearers are resigning congress party. There is no effective of JDS in the district. We have only two major parties, Congress and BJP. The Jayaprakash Hegde’s anti congress initiative which benefitted BJP in the elections. Hence, the congress defeat is absolutely a BJP victory. The top congress leaders have revolted against the congress party. Most of the factors have made the atmosphere of present election conducive for the BJP, he said.

During the press meet, Sheela K.Shetty, B. N. Shankar Poojary, Umesh Poojary, Dinakar Bailoor and others were present.
