Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai dismissed the news, which stated that Karnataka home minister, Ramalinga Reddy had asked him to cancel the Unity March. "Karnataka home minister, Ramalinga Reddy, only asked for postponement of the unity march that was proposed to be held by us from Farangipet to Mani on September 12. He has never advised us against organizing it," said B Ramanath Rai.

"We are not like BJP and we do not break the law and disrupt peace. Congress party never allows people to take law into their hands. Both the home minister and police department have sought the Padayatra to be postponed. We will soon announce the new date of the Padayatra," Rai said.

Rai had recently announced that an apolitical Padayatra will be led from Farangipet to Mani on September 12. The government did not allow BJP Yuvamorcha to hold its 'Mangaluru Chalo' motor bike rally on September 7. On that occasion, the home minister had said that Padayatra too would not be allowed.
