Retired tahsildar dies after being knocked down by jeep

Mangaluru: A retired tahsildar died on the evening of Friday, May 7 after having been knocked down by a jeep. The deceased is Ammembal Somappa Gatty (78).

Somappa was on his routine of evening walk when the accident occurred. When he was crossing the road near the office of the regional transport officer (RTO), he was hit by a jeep. Gatty lost his life instantly.

Somappa Gatty had worked as tahsildar at Kasargod. He was spending retired life in Pandeshwar. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
