Robbers loot from police quarters at Manipal!

Udupi: In a shocking incident, unknown thieves entered the police quarters at Manipal and took away cash and ornaments worth Rs 5.10 lac. Cash and valuables were stolen from quarters No. 66 and 67 in sixth block of police quarters at Manipal on the night of Saturday January 14.

The said houses are allotted to Shivaraya Billava and Shankar, who are currently posted in the district armed reserve police force.
176 grams of gold ornaments were stolen from the house of Shivaraya, while Rs 5,000 in cash and a silver string being worn around the waist were taken away from the house of Shankar. Both the families were away on holiday due to Sankranti. The thieves gained entry into these houses by breaking the bolts of the front doors.

Cases about these two thefts were registered in Manipal police station. The police are looking for clues to zero in on the thieves.
