SAEC holds orientation programme for freshers

Mangaluru: An orientation programme for new entrants and their parents was held at St Aloysius Evening College (SAEC).

The programme began with students leading the audience in prayer through a prayer song. The dignitaries on the dais were joined by two representatives from among the parents and students in the symbolic lighting of the lamp to mark the beginning of the new academic year 2018-19.

Fr Dr Praveen Martis, principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) and administrator of St Aloysius Evening College in his presidential remarks emphasised the important role played by the college in producing graduates with good communicative skills and good character, who could become contributing citizens in the globalized contemporary world.

Principal Dr Manohar V Serrao, gave an overall bird’s-eye view of education at SAEC and gave a brief introduction of the faculty, while vice-principal, Dr Ravi Shetty, briefed the audience on the importance of discipline and regularity in college life.

Dr Mahalinga Bhat familiarised the audience with the EC/CC activities which would be conducted through the various Associations. CA Jason motivated the students with a pep talk with special reference to the CPT and IPCC courses leading to the CA degree. Shakila Hegde, coordinator, parent teachers association, rendered the vote of thanks.

Dr Charles V Furtado, compered the programme. Around 200 students and parents were present.
