Bantwal: Dakshina Kannada SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy said measures are being taken to ensure that youth do not get attracted to drugs and resort to anti-social activities. Complaint boxes will be provided to all schools, colleges and hostels by October 25 so that information could be procured about persons indulging in sale of drugs near educational institutions.

He was speaking at an awareness workshop on drug abuse organised at B C Road for heads of various schools and colleges. A separate police team has been formed to check the menace of drugs, he said adding that teachers and lecturers should join hands in the endeavour of the Police Department to curb the menace.

A suggestion came during the meeting to keep an eye on some shops in the vicinity of educational institutions which reportedly sell intoxicants to students.
