‘SPUTT’ – Children’s Camp Inaugurated

Mangaluru: The 10 days’ Konkani Children’s Camp – ‘Sputt’, organized by Mandd Sobhann, in association with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Raknno weekly, was inaugurated on April 24, 2015, at Kalaangann, Mangaluru. 61 children from Mangaluru, Udupi, Honnavar, Bangalore and Shimoga – have registered in the camp.

Shri Ashok Shet, proprietor – Shwetha Jewellers inaugurated the Camp by lighting coal and symbolically initiated the process of purifying gold. Dr Devdas Pai – Registrar, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Fr. Francis Rodrigues – Editor, Raknno were present as the Guests of Honour.

In his inaugural speech, Shri Ashok Shet advised children to purify their hidden talents in the purifying process (of the camp) and shine as gold. Dr Devdas Pai appreciated Mandd Sobhann’s efforts in promoting talents in children and also expressed his happiness in seeing the large number of participants. Fr. Francis wished the participants well and advised them to make good use of this opportunity.

The children will be trained in Singing, Dance and Theatre as also in Konkani. The trainers were honoured on the occasion by Shri Louis Pinto – President, Mandd Sobhann. Shri Eric Ozario – Gurkar, Mandd Sobhann was also present on stage.

The children will be performing at the 161st Monthly Theatre on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 6.30 p.m., at Kalaangann.
