Shri Charandas Mallya to Receive The Title of ‘Sangeet Mahan’

Mangaluru: Sumell – Mandd Sobhann’s Singing Club, is organising International Music Day Celebrations, at the 190th Monthly Theatre Programme, at Kalaangann, on Sun., Oct. 1, 2017.

On this occasion, choral singing will be presented by ‘Sumell’ and ‘Blue Angels’. Instrumental music by young artistes will be presented by Reuben Machado (flute/harmonica-guitar), Kenny Pereira (saxophone), Samarth Shenoy (flute-fusion) and Oshin Theodore (harmonica-guitar).

As per traditions, Sumell will also be honouring an accomplished music maestro. Shri Charandas Mallya who introduced the ‘nite’ form of music to Mangalore (Ashok-Charan Nite); who has provided music for a number of Tulu, Konkani and Kannada plays; who also has the distinction of having composed music for Kannada, Tulu and Konkani films; and also has arranged music for numerous Konkani albums – has been chosen this year for the ‘Sangeet Sanman’. He will also be bestowed with the title of ‘Sangeet Mahan’.

Entrance to the programme is free. All are cordially invited.
