Moodbidri: As many as 21 students and three faculty members of Sikkim state visited Alva’s Education Foundation as a part of its yearly students exchange program of Gangtok based non-governmental organization, 24 hours Inspired. Fifteen boys and six girls from various schools across Sikkim arrived at Alva’s College on January 22 and returned on January 31.

The students’ team was exposed to various activities of the foundation in weeklong program. Faculties of Kannada department of the college trained them few terms in Kannada, which are often used in day today conversation. Preparation of local delicacies along with diet foods were instilled by FND branch staffs. Likewise, personality development sessions, Bharathanatyam classes, yoga training, wider benefits of Ayurveda medicine was practically instructed in Medicinal plant. The cultural extravaganza of the college was displayed through ‘Alva’s Samskruthika Vybhava’ held at Hosanagara Ghataka in Shivamogga district. The mammoth celebration of Alva’s Republic Day was another visual treat to them; behold the patriotic fervor of Alva’s Education Foundation. Local tourists spots were been visited to enjoy the essence of trip to costal Karnataka.

Speaking about the visit, 24 hours Inspired chief learning officer Dewaker Basnet said, “Each year we take a group of school students from different schools across Sikkim to a bigger city so that they understand and appreciate culture of India as a bigger nation. This year our visit to Moodbidri would definitely widen our horizons in terms of experience, knowledge, cultural exchange and lot of other facets. Giving Kudos to Alva’s Education Foundation for providing free education to students of backward communities of North Eastern states, he said, ‘this is the perfect place to expose and explore umpteen qualities of virtue. He also expressed his willingness to bring a bunch of teachers from that region to learn the good disciplines imbibed by this institution in coming days.”

“It was very interesting and provided valid platform to inculcate right way of doing things in well behaved manner,” said Abi Hang Subba, student of the team. Another student, Neemjena Limboo expressed her contentment saying, “Being Indian, one should start respect all the cultures of India. This college is instrumental in nurturing as well as promoting true culture of this land.”

The students team sung Sikkim’s integration song ‘Jahan Bagcha teesta Rangit’ while bidding goodbye to the college.
