Silas International School student to represent state in roller hockey

Udupi: Venugopal Rao, Grade 9 student of Silas International School here has been selected to represent Karnataka in the 55th National Roller and Inline Hockey Championship to be held in Haryana conducted by the Roller Skating Federation of India.

He will also be participating in Hockey coaching camp organised by the Karnataka Roller Skating Association.

Roller skating consists of three streams namely Roller Hockey, Artistic Skating and Speed Skating. In the last couple of decades roller skating has become a very popular event in Karnataka. Today it is a popular sport in more than 15 districts of Karnataka and many schools in the state have included it in their curriculum.
