Published On : 14 Oct 2016   |  Reported By : Richard D'Souza

Udupi:  Udupi District Billava Yuva Vedike ® Udupi demanding speedy investigation of the Chaitra Poojary suicidal case which now is going to be very slow, said Praveen M. Poojary President of Udupi District Billava Yuva Vedike, Udupi.

While addressing media persons at Udupi he said that the Vedike under doubt with the case investigation team which is very slow due to political pressure or accused strong position financially. We also have a doubt that due to political pressure, the investigation has been slow.

The main accused in the Chaitra Poojary’s suicide case her friend Adarsh and his friends Pavan and Sagar have strong background and they were responsible for the case, he argued. She suicided on 28th September 2016 when she had not completed 18 years of age. Her 18th birthday was on 8th October. So at the time of her death she was under age. The accused should be under POSCO rule, accused should not be given in bail. We have heard that the accused preceded the bail application in the court of law.

He told the media persons that their fight was not against any political parties. This fight would be for social justice. If Police is not investigating in a proper manner, then, we will observe huge protest.

The deceased father Chandrashekar said that they knew the illicit relations of his daughter Chaitra. There was no objection for the wedding with her lover. But we told her that it is not the age to get married because of under age. After 18 years we can look for the marriage.

We have doubt that Chaitra was taken in the car and the accused were near about four hours with Chaitra on that day. She took half day holiday on that day and at the time of her departure; it has recorded in the CC camera. We have strong doubt that her lover has given her mental distress. We have information that prior to her suicide another girl was with Chaitra.

Udupi Billava Yuva Vedike will fight for the justice for her parents. For justice, police is not investigating in a proper speedy way, the Vedike will hold protest against the Police.

During the press meet, Chandrashekar deceased father, Vedike officials Sharath Poojary, Divakar Salian, Raju Poojary, Shivapalan and others were present.
