Published On : 08 Oct 2017   |  Reported By : Canaranews network

Mangaluru: Mangaluru is all set to get tech-savvy with the implementation of Smart Mangaluru. To bring the project to fruition, a Central Command Centre at the cost of Rs 60 crore will be set up on the third floor of the city corporation.

For the establishment of the centre, a detailed project report will be prepared and sent to Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation for technical approval. Thereafter, administrative permission will be sought by the high-level committee in Bengaluru, and tenders will be called for the operation of the centre.

Tender will be given for five years. Operational responsibility will later be transferred to the corporation. Those who obtain the tender and contract must be well acquainted with all types of world-class software, and other technical equipments including LED TV at the Command Centre. The company that has the lease for all skilled technicians operating here will operate for 5 years.

The traffic systems of the entire city will be controlled by the centre, as has been done abroad. With the system being automated, more power lies in the hands of citizens.
