Mangaluru: The 62nd Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated in great pomp and splendor at Srinivas Institute of Technology Campus, Valachil, here on Thursday November 2, with the tag line 'Tantrika Neleyalli Kannadada Ale'.

Translated this means 'Creating Waves with Kannada in the domain of engineering and technology'.

Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal of the college inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and showering rose petals on Kannadambe – goddess Bhuvaneshwari- the reigning deity of Karnataka. The feisty golden yellow and vermillion state flag, the pride of the Kannadigas, was hoisted on the occasion followed by a rendition of state and National Anthem by the congregation led by Shubham and his team.

The programme was coordinated by Prof Sudheendra H N from the department of mechanical engineering with the help of student volunteers- Gurubasavaraju, Rayappa and team. More than 2000 students and staff (teaching and non-teaching) witnessed the Rajyotsava celebrations.
