St Agnes College starts diploma in Big Data Analytics

Mangaluru: Taking forward the proud legacy of technical and academic excellence of St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, St Agnes Degree College initiated a diploma in Big Data Analytics.

The diploma in Big Data Analytics presents a unique opportunity to create a long term career in the fastest growing industries in the country. The programme provides hands-on exposure and experiential learning through projects and real world case studies, big data lab with data sets, industry trainer lectures, and well experienced research oriented professor’s sessions. Students get exposed to different technologies like Hadoop, R, Python, Machine Learning and Java.

The programme has been co-created and delivered by industry and engineering professionals. The curriculum will help you get a deeper understanding of entire data value chain – the flow of information from data to big data analysis to drawing insights from big data.

The programme was inaugurated by Sr Dr Maria Roopa, joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions and superior of St Agnes Convent. Rathinaraja Jeyraj, HP, certified trainer, HP Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru, was the chief guest. Addressing the audience he focussed on the importance of Big Data Analytics and an environment under which these analyses can be carried out.

Vice-principal of the college Sr Dr Venissa informed the audience that the college is going to start a week end batch and PG Diploma in Big Data Analytics shortly. Interested students and working staff can enrol for the programme.

Big Data Analytics is a revolution in the field of Information Technology. The use of Data analytics by companies is enhancing every year. The analytics involves the use of advanced techniques and tools of analytics on the data obtained from various sources. It involves the use of analytics techniques like machine learning, data mining, natural language processing and statistics. These tools and techniques are in demand due to the use of Big Data in Business. Big Data Analytics efficiently helps operations to become more effective. Tools like Hadoop helps in reducing the cost of storage. This has led the use of Big Data in multiple industries like Banking, Healthcare, Energy, Technology, Consumer and Manufacturing. Education sector has new options for research and analysis using data analytics. Due to immense
opportunities, Data analytics has become an attractive option to study for students. During job search, it opens new unique opportunities.

All in all, Big Data Analytics has become an essential part of the companies today.

Programme coordinator and HOD of Statistics Shubharekha welcomed the gathering. Resource persons Deepak Bhat form HP Pvt Ltd Mangaluru and Anushree Raj, research scholar were present for the programme.
