St Agnes PU celebrates college day

Mangaluru: St Agnes PU College Day for the year 2017-18 was held recently.

The chief guest for evening Dr Sabeeha Bhoomigowda, vice chancellor, Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Vijayapur was welcomed with a guard of honour lead by the NCC cadets and the college cabinet. The chief guest was accompanied by the college principal Sr Shamitha and PTA vice- president Anita Dehnugar.

Dr Sabeeha appreciated the growth of the college and spoke about the need to develop independent and critical thinking skills so that women have the confidence to voice their opinion which is of paramount in a pluralistic and diverse society of India.

The formal programme was followed by cultural performances where the students presented a wide range of items which included folk dances of different states, French songs, orchestra, Kannada skit on social values and a tableau on the life of Mother Veronica, the founder of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation.

The programme ended highlighting the completion of 150 years of the Congregation.

Maria D’Souza, lecturer in statistics compered the formal programme, whilst the vote of thanks was rendered by Shailaja, lecturer in Kannada.
