St Aloysius B Ed College holds Eid Mubarak programme

Mangaluru: St Aloysius B Ed College observed one of the significant religious festivals of the Muslims ‘Eid Mubarak’ to mark inter-religious harmony, by hosting a programme on campus, on Monday, July 3.

Various cultural competitions symbolising brotherhood and fraternity were held. Suman Kadri, proprietor of Frolic Event Management Company, here, judged the competitions.

Mohammud Farhan Nadwi, a teacher in Islamic Studies, Iqura Arabic School, Mangaluru was the chief guest of the programme. In his speech, he pointed out that the fasting of thirty days helped in the purification of self, and a transformation in life. He thanked the management and college principal for organising Eid Mubarak to develop brotherhood.

Fr Traung Phem SJ, assistant professor, Seattle University, Washington, was the guest of honour. The college management felicitated him.

Dr Fr Melwyn D Cunha SJ, vice principal, St Joseph’s College, Bengaluru and Fr Eric Mathias SJ, director of the college, graced the occasion.

Dr Farita Viegas, the principal, appreciated the efforts of students who put up the programme. She also invited the students to become beacons of peace and harmony in the society.

Fr Britto welcomed the gathering. Hameed highlighted the significance of observing Eid. Mohammed and Fr Nelson introduced the chief guest and guest of honour and the judge. Brother Royal SJ compered the programme. Vinnie D'Costa proposed the vote of thanks. Sandhya, a lecturer, organised the event.
