St Aloysius BEd Institute holds decennial year celebrations 'Edu Tarang'

Mangaluru: In its journey towards excellence, St Aloysius Institute of Education (BEd College) has completed a decade. The institute gratefully acknowledged the blessings of the Almighty and rededicated itself to impart value based quality education to the teacher trainees.

The two day decennial year 'Edu Tarang 2017' celebration began with the inaugural of BEd inter-collegiate cultural competitions on April 27. This is an institute dedicated to education of teachers which has proved to be of excellence. They have undertaken innovative drives for the overall development of trainees keeping the spirit of the college motto 'Lucet et Ardet' (Shine to Enkindle).

Edu Tarang 2017, BEd inter-collegiate cultural competitions comprised of the following events: Mera Bharath Mahan (variety cultural entertainment show), collage, creative writing, Eastern group singing, fresh flowers arrangement, folk dance, mime, Western group singing and rangoli. In addition to these, the college has planned to undertake a project on educational legacy of Mangaluru, a symposium on inclusiveness and a seminar on the topic teacher effectiveness. This will help to build up the bond of teacher trainees between the various BEd Colleges.

Dr M Prabhakar Joshi (former principal, Besant College and Yakshagana scholar), chief guest of the inaugural programme explained the difference between culture and nature. He invited the audience to be more natural in cultural aspects and not to add or mix ingredients without need.

Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ (rector in-charge, St Aloysius College institutions) presided over the function. He encouraged the teacher trainees to take teaching profession as a vocation.

Dr Mrs Farita Viegas, principal, delivered the welcome address and introduced the chief guest to the audience. Jerome D'Souza, convener, presented glimpse of decennial- Edu Tarang 2017. Fr Jason Monis (students’ council member) compeered the programme and Roshni Kumari (cultural secretary, students’ council) proposed the vote of thanks. All the staff members were involved in organizing the competitions. Fourteen college students registered to participate in the various competitions.
