St Aloysius College promotes awareness on 'Organ Donation'

Mangaluru: The postgraduate department of Social Work organized an awareness programme on 'Organ Donation' at L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block.

Dr Patricia Viego, co-ordinator, ‘Jeevanasarthakathe’, Bengaluru, Organ Donation & Transplant Co-ordinating Agency, Karnataka State was the guest speaker. Principal, Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ presided over the programme.

Addressing the students, Fr Dr Praveen Martis said, "Life is a gift given by God. We have to connect with each other and take care of each other as responsible human beings. Students must vouch and be of service to others as one can live even after death by donating organs and save one’s life. When we are alive, we can do something for others. Organs and tissues are needed to save one’s life. Hence, pledge to donate organs after your death."

Dr Loveena Lobo, director, Maffei Block introduced the guest and briefed about the programme. She also narrated the importance of organ donation. Roshan Monteiro, assistant professor, compered the programme. Gerald D’Silva, lecturer, proposed the vote of thanks.
