St. Joseph Vaz Deanery, Kundapur Jeevan Jyothi Camp 2017

Jeevan Jyothi Residential Camp for the 10th std. children of Kundapur deanery was held from 11th October 2017 to 14th October 2017 at Don Bosco school campus, Trasi. Arrival and registration was from 4:30 onwards on 11th. Altogether 100 children took part in the camp. After the initial guidelines, clarifications and group division, inaugural ceremony was held at 7:30 p.m. V. Rev. Fr Anil D’Souza, the Vicar Forane was the president for inaugural function. Fr Jerald D’Mello- the Camp Director as well as assistant parish priest of Holy Rosary Church, Kundapura; Fr Robert Rayan Pais OCD- Carmel Ashram, Katkere; Fr Maxim D’Souza – Principal of Don Bosco School; Sr Theresa B.S from Padukone Convent and two student representatives were on the stage. Delivering his presidential address Fr Anil said, “It’s a Golden opportunity to assemble together in such a huge number for a residential camp. Let’s make best use of this opportunity. Let us inculcate Gospel values in our life and make our life shine”.

In these days of the camp altogether 6 relevant sessions were held for the students through competent resource persons. 9 animators from different parishes of the deanery stayed all through the days of the camp and accompanied children as well as guided as the group animators. Sr Theresa B.S from Padukone Convent, Sr Juiana A.C from Gangolli Convent, Sr Veena B.S from Basrur Convent, Sr Veena A.C from Kundapur Convent, Mrs Maria & Mrs Anitha from Trasi parish, Mrs Olympia from Kota, Ms Divya Nazareth from Byndoor and Ms Jennifer D’Sa from Piusnagar parish served as the animators. Apart from the talks, there was daily Eucharist and adoration, there were variety entertainment programmes, indoor & outdoor games, songs, actions songs, dance, chart preparation, skit and bible quiz.

100 students were distributed and divided into 7 groups. There was daily cleaning at different places in campus/liturgy animation/food setting & serving, which were assigned to the groups. Well-planned time table, planning, organization and effective execution made this camp a successful event.

Concluding ceremony was held on 14/10/2017 at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Fr Fredrick Mascarenhas- the parish priest of Padukone was the president for the concluding programe. Fr Leo Pereira – Rector of Don Bosco institution, Fr Maxim D’Souza- Principal of Don Bosco School, Fr Jerald Sandeep D’Mello- Camp Director, Fr Rayan Pais OCD-Katkere, Sr Juliana A.C from Gangolli Convent and student representatives were on the stage. Delivering his Presidential address, Fr Fredrick said “I congratulate the entire Jeevan Jyothi committee for carrying on this camp soo smoothely. I am sure it has been a successful and useful for the participants. . Shine in life, shine in family, shine in school, shine in society and shine in the church.”
