Stagecraft to present comedy play 'Rumours' on October 29

Mangaluru: Stagecraft comprises of a group of vibrant, talented and enthusiastic people who share love for theatre and a desire to contribute to our society. Their mission is two-fold and simple; to raise funds to help the underprivileged and provide entertainment to lovers of fine arts.

The proceeds of the play raised through sponsors, go toward supporting two homes for destitute children in Mudipu and Vijayadka. These homes are provided with food grains and basic necessities to last a year. This year, the main sponsor is the Prestige group.

In the past, under the direction of Ramona Mathias, Stagecraft has performed a couple of plays such as ‘An Ideal Husband’ and ‘You never can tell’ and this year will present an adaptation of a popular and modern comedy by the renowned American playwright Neil Simon, titled: ‘Rumours’.

Rumours is one of Neil Simon’s most celebrated and funniest works. This modern adaptation is set in cosmopolitan London in the 1980’s, and touches upon various themes, like the true test of friendship and the utter destructive powers of rumour mongering.

This year’s cast comprises of Rajni Lobo Patrao, Preetham Kamath, Nelofer Saldanha, Nikita Pinto, Keith Palanna, Santosh Rodrigues, Vasu Kamath, Manik Mascarenhas and Ramona Mathias.

The play ‘Rumours’ will be performed on October 29 at the Sri Sudhindra Auditorium, Canara Girls High school, Dongerkeri at 6.15 pm.
