Udupi : The role of women for the development and promoting the Konkani Lanuguage through their notable works have been prominent where Konkani language has its own tradition, said Padma Shenoy, President of Konkani Matha Convention during an inaugural occasion of state level Karnataka Konkani Mahila Sahitya Sanskriti Sammelan at the Muddanna Mantapa of MGM College on Saturday, 28thNovember, 2015.

She said that due to the rich tradition of the Konkani language, the Konkani language is one of the recognized language out of 24 languages by the central government. Mother should play an important role in the development of their child and mother’s care development of the child’s personality.

During her keynote address, Ms. Sandhya Pai, Honorary President of the convention said that due to the Konkani language, the Konkani community is uniting today. During the occasion Malathi Sagar, Rajashree Shenoy Ullal, Anuradha Dhareshwar Dharawada and Sabitha Monis were felicitated for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.

Dr. Shalini Prabhu Bengaluru, Poet Nithu, Actress Aiswarya Naag, Swathi Shevde Jet Airways Pilot, Dr Lavanya Shanbaug, Anusuya Kamath, Sumithra H Nayak, Shreemathi A Takoor, Smitha, Kasthuri Sheth, Veena Lavakkar, Naveena R. Nayak, Parwathi Udupi, Prathima Nayak, Sandhya D Menekar, Somiraya Siddi, Deepali Kambadakone, Gayathri Shirodkar, Indira Venkatesh Meshta, Usharani Madiwala and Bhatiya Habbir Shiroor were present.

Laxmi S. Rego, Working President of the Convention welcomed the gathering. Shruthi G. Shenoy proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Vijayalaxmi Nayak and Smitha Shenoy compered the programme.
