Students’ council inaugurated at SAEC

Mangaluru: The oath taking ceremony for the newly elected members of the Students’ Council 2018-19 at St Aloysius Evening College (SAEC) was held in the Eric Mathias Hall at the college.

The programme began with a prayer song by the student choir. Dr Donald Lobo, director, students’ council, welcomed the gathering. Fr Dr Praveen Martis, administrator, St Aloysius Evening College, who presided over the function, was joined by Dr Manohar Serrao, principal, SAEC, Dr Ravi Shetty, vice-principal, Dr Donald Lobo, Sudesh, president elect, Mahesh, vice-president elect and Sr Renita, secretary elect in the symbolic lighting of the lamp to mark the beginning of the council activities in the new academic year 2018-19. Fr Dr Praveen Martis administered the oath to the president elect, Sudesh, who then administered the oath to the other council members. The ceremony ended with the singing of the college anthem.

The principal, Dr Manohar V Serrao, emphasised on the need to participate in extra, co- curricular and outreach activities to mould one into men and women for others. Fr Dr Praveen Martis, in his presidential remarks, emphasised the importance of imbibing the right kind of leadership skills which when coupled with good character, would produce excellent leaders which is a need of the hour in the globalized contemporary world today. The ‘One Rupee Revolution’, the unique outreach programme of the college was inaugurated for the new academic year. Sudesh, president, students’ council, rendered the vote of thanks. Stacy Robert officiated as the master of ceremonies. The function ended with the national anthem. More than 300 students were present in the audience.
