Tension in Kalladka following assault

Mangaluru (The Hindu)Tension prevailed for a while in Kalladka following the assault of three youths by a group of persons on Friday afternoon.

According to Bantwal police, Mohammed Hasir (21) and his two friends were attacked by group of eight persons while they were returning after offering prayers at a masjid. In his complaint, Hasir said that the assailants came in a car and waylaid him. One of them hit him on his back with a sharp weapon. They hit Hasir’s two friends with stones and left the place.

The police said that the injured persons are undergoing treatment at a private hospital and that their condition is stable. The injured persons have accused Mithun, an accused in a case of attempt to murder, and his associates of attacking them. Mithun and his associates were recently released on bail. The police have launched a search for those involved in the attack.

Following the attack, people started to assemble on the main road on Kalladka. Additional policemen rushed to the spot to disperse them. Four Karnataka State Reserve Police platoons have been stationed to maintain peace. Senior police officers, including Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, are patrolling the area.
